Jillaine Smith was contacted on 28 June 2002 by Gene (EEEnsor@@aol.com) who is descended from Agnes GLUNZ and Joh. Jacob MAURER, through their son, Andrew MAURER. Gene reported that Andrew emigrated in 1857 and lived with his uncle (Agnes' brother), Christian GLUNZ, in Marshall, Illinois. "Christian taught Andrew how to make shoes for a living. But on Andrew's 19th birthday, he joined the Union Army, and was captured a short time later in TN. Andrew was sent to Andersonville prison, in GA."
