According to church records, he married (first) 21 July 1785, Lydia Benham. The "Hyde Genealogy", by Reuben H. Walworth, claims that he married (second) Clarissa Howe, of Walcott, NY, and settled at Pavilion, NY. This work also gives son Elijah as the son of Amos Marsh and Clarissa Howe, but as Elijah was born in 1787, it seems more probable that he was the son of Amos' first wife Lydia Benham. The absence of vital records for Hartford CT, prior to 1857, makes proving this point, statistically, impossible.
