Biography

Amos Lundy11 Carroll 1765-1815: The Settlements, By John Perry Alderman; Published by Alderman Books, 1985, p. 219-220. Amos Lundy, born June 7, 1743 at Maiden Creek, Pennsylvania, was the third of the Lundy children. As stated, he married Ann Collins and in 1784 left New Jersey. The family remained connected with the Quaker Church and the church records show that they were received into the Deep River Meeting in 1785 and then into the Westfield Meeting three years later (1 Hinsaw 824, 966). He settled on Meadow Creek which is in present day Grayson County, although he owned land on Crooked Creek in present day Carroll. It would seem that he lived in North Carolina for some four years before coming to Virginia, for he does not appear in the local records until 1789 at which time he is found on the tax lists.
In 1805 Amos and his family were given certificates by the Quaker meeting and they moved to Ohio. Most of the older children had married and did not migrate with them (1 Hinshaw 1011).
