Amos Joy, 4 months and 20 days service as corporal, also service as private. Application signed as Capt. Amos Joy. 27 Nov 1733, Probate Court, Windham Co VT--Amos Joy, 72, appeared and deposed for pension. Thinks he entered about 10 Jun 1780 as corporal in company of Capt. Blakeley, Lts. Rice and Joseph Joy were subaltern officers, and the regiment commanded by Col. Malcolm of the NY Militia. Went to West Point, then up the Mohawk to Fort Hunter, in October, where hewas dismissed. Then in Nov 1781 for 3 months in a company commanded by Lt. Hitchcock, to Peacham. Corps commanded by Col. Wait. Stayed to about 12 Feb 1782. Private during this enlistment. ...He has no record of his age in writing, was born 27 May 1761, Rehoboth, Mass. ...Affidavit by Wilmarth Rudway [?] saying Amos was sent in the company of his brother Joseph Joy who was lieutenant of the company. |
