His 2nd marriage to Marie-Modeste MOLAISON was on 12 [sic] Jul 1763 at Church of the Holy Trinity, Cherbourg, Normany, France, after dispensation of fourth degree of consanguinity. Ambroise BOURG, son of deceased Charles & Cecile MELANCON, married on 1 Jun 1757 to Anne Josephe PITRE, daughter of Claude & Isabelle GUERIN, all of this parish of Port-la-Joie, Isle St. Jean. Witnesses: Charles BOURG [not the groom's deceased father]; Alexandre PITRE, brother; Charles HENRY; Cecile MELANCON, mother; Baptiste PITRE, brother. Recorded by Rev. Gratien RAOUL, Recollect, the King's Chaplain, Cure' and Superior. Also: Application for dispensation for Consanguinity addressed to Msgr., Bishop of Contances [France]. Ambroise BOURK, living in the city of Cherbourg for the last 4 1/2 years, appeared before Mr. Le FEROUILLY, a priest serving at Cherbourg, for information on 6 Jul 1763 at the rectory. He petitioned to marry his fiancee of one month, Modeste MOLAISON, both descended from a common ancestor MELANSON from England, thus related in the fourth degree. A descendancy list of each was included. Ambroise was age 31, Modeste age 21. Witnesses: Jean GRANGEY [GRANGER], age 48 from Acadia, a gardener domiciled at Cherbourg for about 3 1/2 years; Jacques MOLAISON, age 60 from Acadia, a fisherman domiciled at Cherbourg for about 3 1/2 years, father of the bride. Deposition states that Modeste has a sister and brothers, all awaiting King's permission to go to "the Islands." Other witnesses: Jean RENAUD, sailor, age 22; Pierre POTIER, sailor, who states that among the Acadians "there are few who are not relatives or allied relatives." Dispensation was given on 3 Jul 1763, signed De Hennot de THIEVILLE, by Msgr. Born about 1736, son of Charles BOURG & Cecile MELANCON, married 1st on 1 Jun 1757 at Port-Lajoie, Isle St. Jean, to Anne-Josephe PITRE, daughter of Claude & Isabelle GUERIN; one daughter listed. Ambroise married 2nd on 12 [sic] Jul 1763 at Ste. Trinite of Cherbourg, Manche [France] to Marie-Modeste MOLAISON, daughter of Jacques & Cecile MELANCON [same name as his mother]. Eleven children are listed for this marriage. He and 2nd wife and 5 daughters arrived at St. Malo from Cherbourg on 20 Jan 1773, and established residence in the parish of Pleurtuit. On 12 Aug 1785 Ambroise and 2nd wife with 9 children departed from France on the ship "La Ville D'Archangel," which arrived in Louisiana on 3 Dec 1785 [nearly 4 months at sea.] References
