Facts and Events
From edithmaher@@yahoo.com I have in Montville Church Records: Amasa Minard md. Patty Chapman Oct 27 1796 V3-276. Patty was a nickname for Martha in those days. I think George Maynard/Minard & Elizabeth Allyn had a son Henry but can't put my fingers on it. ddsuhr@@msn.com has Lyman MINARD b.1797 son of Henry MINARD of Montville. I THINK his went to NY also. Any other Maynard/Minard/Miner in that NY county your Amasa went to? From D. Dean Suhr The years do not fit anyone I am looking for at this time. Lyman Miner/Minard or Maynard, Married Clarissa Champlin, in 1828, at Montville, had three children, William( my 2nd gr-grandfather), Abby, & Charles. I have unsupported information that Lyman's parents were Henry Maynard and Betsy Crocker, of Montville. This is the information I am seeking presently. There is an Amasa Maynard in Warsaw for the 1850 census. Born circa 1776 in Connecticut, his wife's name is Abigail - she is four years older. Looking at census records, this man may have come from Westborough, Worcester, Massachusetts. From the History of Warsaw, NY by Andrew Young p. 35 First Sale of Lands July 19, 1813 Josiah Jewett, west part of lot 39 200 acres July 1819 new articles to Amasa Mynard and Joseph Case. This land is in the northern sector of the Town of Warsaw – present day Dale Rd runs thru this lot and cuts left towards Hatch neighborhood and the Sayre Rd goes to the right going to the Town of Middlebury. On the 1866 map A. Minor is listed along Dale Road on the townline on lot 48 Town of Warsaw – but Amasa was already dead by this time. Possibly a relative or still in his estate?? – I would suspect with Amasa owning land on lot 31he would have been buried maybe in Hatch Cemetery or Carlton Hill in the Town of Middlebury, but I find nothing. Of course these two cemeteries are very old and abandoned and the stones very weathered – so they may be in one of them and the stone is gone. I also checked West Middlebury, Dale Pioneer and Wyoming Village – nothing. References
