Hamilton Advocate-Hamiltonian, Hamilton, Missouri January 26, 1939 90 YEARS IN CALDWELL Mrms. Alice Esteb, Widow of John T. Esteb, was Born Near Kingston--Spent Life in County. Alice Ophelia, daughter of John P. and Melcenia James, was born near Kingston, November 9, 1848, and died at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Charles Orr at Polo, at the age of 90 years, 2 months and 12 days. August 9, 1865, she was united in marriage to John T. Esteb. To this union seven children were born, one dying in infancy. Surviving are two sons and four daughters, Mrs. Mary F. Bradely, Lincoln, Ark.; Mrs. Cora Stiles, Lake Odessa, Michigan; Mrs. John M. Esteb, Denver, Colorado; Tom Esteb, Kingston. Also 18 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, one great-great child and a broad circle of admiring friends. Mr. Esteb preceded her in death 13 years. Mrs. Esteb had spent her entire life in Caldwell County. She was a member of the Christ sian Church and a charter member of the Kingston Chapter of the Eastern Star which she served as chaplain 25 years. While in active life, Mrs. Esteb was a faithful member of both her church and lodge, regular in attendance and every ready to perform any duty beneficial to either organization. Thus passes another of Caldwell County's pioneers who will be greatly missed by relatives and friends. A chair is vacant that never can be filled. Funeral services were held from the Kingston Christian Church Monday afternoon, conducted by Rev. G.A. Puckett, friend of the family. The Eastern Star members held a short service at the church led by Mrs. Elmer Hocklander. Burial was in the Kingston cemetery.
