Alice M. Crawford, age 92 of McHenry, IL, passed away Friday morning March 3, 2017 at the Centegra Hospital-McHenry.
The former Alice May Gates was born on August 21, 1924 in Alden, IL, the daughter of the late Clare and Ruth Greene Gates. On May 6, 1945, in Genoa City, WI, Alice was united in marriage to Wallace J. Crawford. They lived in Genoa City, WI moving to Hebron, IL in 1962 and then to Arkansas in 1993. She moved to Fox Point in McHenry a month ago.
Alice formerly worked as a court clerk at the McHenry County Courthouse for 22 years. She was a former member of the Hebron, IL United Methodist Church and the Heber Springs First United Methodist Church in Heber Springs, Arkansas. She volunteered for the Heber Springs United Methodist Church-Cleburn County Cares. She was also a member of the Friends of the Library in Heber Springs. She was a past Worthy Matron of the Order of Eastern Star.
Alice is survived by: 3 daughter’s, Terry Crawford of Las Vegas, NV, Kay (Loren) Vant of Whitewater, WI and Dawn Crawford of Streamwood, IL; 2 grandchildren, David Keith Schult and Amanda (Ben) Fisher; 4 great grandchildren, Daniel and David, Jacob and Chayse.
Alice was preceded in death by a son, Wallace “Keith” Crawford on April 17, 2003 and 1 brother Glenn Gates.
A Memorial gathering will be held from 2:00 PM until the Memorial Service at 3:00 PM Monday, March 6, 2017 at the Haase-Lockwood & Assoc. Funeral Home and Crematory, 113 Freeman St. Genoa City, WI.
