"Joseph Burgess born November 13, 1739. He was a son of Joseph and Elizabeth Bacon."
[Note: "Elce is a common colonial spelling of Alice, not a form of Elizabeth. Sometimes it is reported as Elsie which is phonetic. Bacon, as given here, is obviously a misreading or incorrect assumption of what "Bacor" was intended to be, but the father's will shows her actual maiden name to be Alice Baker.]

  4. Source:Smith, Leonard H. Cape Cod Library of Local History and Genealogy, p. 1722, says she is named Alice in her father's will.
