Oliver, A retired lumber merchant and a resident of Atlantic Highlands many years, died last Friday at the Monmouth Memorial hospital at Long Branch after an operation for intestinal trouble. He was a patient there two-days. Mr. Oliver was 79 years old. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Mary Rogers Oliver, and a son, Capt. Alfred C. Oliver, Jr., a chaplain at Fort Harrison, Indiana. Mr. Oliver took a prominent part in the activities of the Atlantic Highlands Methodist church for a number of years. The funeral was held Sunday afternoon at the house and was in charge of Rev. Harry D. Hummer, pastor of the Atlantic Highlands Methodist church, assisted by Rev. William I. Campbell, pastor of the Atlantic Highlands Presbyterian church, and Rev. Mr. Lake of Spring Lake. Burial by A. M. Posten and Sons was in Bay View cemetery. |
