ALEX SMITH

      With a sad and aching heart I will try to write an obituary of

my grandfather, Alex Smith. He was the son of John and Betsy Smith. Granddad was born October 30, 1882. He departed this life November 20, 1967, making his stay on earth 85 years and 21 days.

       Early in life grandad was married to Tryphenia Pratt who ..

precededhim in death and to this union was born 8 children 5 sons and 3 daughters. One son Estill Smith preceded him in death and one son Chester Smith has followed him. Granddad left 7 Children: Chester Smith, Leburn,Ky; Virgie Smith Allen, Ky Denver Smith Garner, Ky; Morg Smith Larkslane, Ky; Beatrice Stamper, Hindman, Ky; Ida Triplett, Sweet Home Oregon, Leilla Mae Stewart Tullatoosa, Georgia. He left three brothers Rich...... Smith, Mousie, Ky; James Smith Leburn, Ky; and Sam Smith Leburn, Ky. 45 grandchildren and a great many great-grandchild- ren and a host of friends to mourn his loss.

      Granddad joined the Old Regular Baptist Church about four

months before he died and though he never got able after he joined the church to be baptized I feel he is truly living with God now....... Granddad was a very good and very dear person he was sick for a long time and he bore his sickness in great patience and humble- ness. Our hearts were made sad to have to give you up dear grand- dad but I feel you are with God and resting in peace, and out of all your suffering. I want to say to all the children if you want to see.... granddad again get down on your knees and start praying and find your way to God so we can go and live with him again.
