1933:
By April 1933, A.E.D. was a Clerk in the Treasurer's Dept in the Exeter City Council. He resided at 114 Regent Street, St Thomas, along with his new wife Olive Amy Eastmond. Olive and A.E.D. were married (on April 5th) in the Gospel Hall at the rear of 179-180 Fore Street, Exeter. The marriage certificate was witnessed by a family friend, Reginald Cockram, and A.E.D.'s 66 year old mother, Bessie Western.

1934:
At Anthony Trevor's birth in April 1934, AED and Olive still resided at his mothers house at 114 Regent Street and AED was still a Clerk in the Finance office of the Exeter City Council.

1937:
At Anne Hilary's birth in February 1937, AED and Olive were still living at 114 Regent Street, Exeter. AED is listed as a Clerk in the Finance Department of the City Council.

1940:
At David Edward John's birth in September 1940, AED and Olive were living at 9 Thompson Rd, and AEDs profession is listed as Chief Auditor's Assistant on the Exeter City Council.

1953:
At the time of the marriage of Anthony Trevor and Joan Sharpe, he is a "Internal Auditor, Exeter County Borough Council".

1981:
His obituary in the Exeter 'Express and Echo' for 28 Sept, 1981, p2, reads "Western - On September 26, Albert (Bert), aged 72, of Exeter, dearest husband of Olive, loving father and father-in-law of Tony and Joan, Anne and Colin, and David and Clarita, and much-loved grandad of Julie, Trevor, Mark, Lynda, and Stuart. Now at Peace. Will be greatly missed, Funeral service Belmont Chapel, Wednesday, 1.30 P.M., followed by cremation. Family flowers only, but donations, if desired, for Crossline Christian Counselling Service, c/o Belmont Chapel, Western Way, Exeter."
