Facts and Events
Ornamental plasterer: decorative plaster around old chandeliers, etc. Per his daughter, Myrtle Sess Cook, "When the first world war came, Daddy was drafted in one of the first groups which were drafted. He came down with double pneumonia in France. Twice he was thrown among the dead bodies. Once he was picked up and thrown over the front fender of the army truck and then stacked up with dead soldiers like cords of wood. On the way he was bumped off the truck and was put with these dead bodies until someone noticed that he was still alive. He was then placed in the hospital. When the war was over, he came home with no feeling in his body. You could stick a pin in his flesh and he felt nothing. Some rich man heard about Daddy and paid for treatments that consisted of squirting him with hot water and then cold water until his feeling came back again." Good violinist. Moved to Detroit, MI during the depression. Moved back to Cincinnati by end of 1921. References
