Hollister Free Lance Monday August 31, 1931

Albert (Bert) Johnson widely known local man, died suddenly Saturday night at the home of his sister here, victim of a heart attack. He was 62.

Johnson, raised in this region, was stayimg at the home of Mrs. Ann Stephenson, when he was suddenly seized with the heart attack and passed away.

He is survived ny his widow, Mrs. Burnetta Johnson and a daughter, Irene Johnson, both of San Jose; his mother, Mrs. Mary J. Johnson of Hollister and a sister Ann Stephenson.

We spent several hours at the San Mateo County Archives this past week searching for any records for an Albert Johnson/Burnetta Clark Rentfrow marriage. We checked under the Clark name as well to make sure that we were not missing an opportunity. The marriage records we searched ran from 1901 to 1915. We have a published index of earlier marriages, but it was not listed there either.

Unfortunately, we found no record for any such captioned marriage.

Just a thought, but have you checked 1900 census records to verify their county of residence, and the 1910 census records as well? Perhaps you already have this information confirmed. If not, it is worth a try. There might not be easy access to such records in Alaska or do you have a Regional Branch there as well? The Regional Branch of the National Archives is in San Bruno in our County, but we hesitate to spend more time searching records unless you so request.

Sorry that we do not have more encouraging news for you. If you have any questions, please contact us. Ruth Moore Research Secretary SMCGS
