ALBERT L. ICKES SR.
Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Mr. Ickes died Friday morning, July 17, 1998 at his residence. He was born Aug. 10, 1926 in Wichita, Kan. to Oscar and Geraldine (Herr) Ickes. He married Dora Daniels on Oct. 21, 1944, and she died Feb. 22, 1989. Surviving are two sons, Larry of Findlay; Albert Jr. of Bairdstown; two daughters, Mrs. Carlos (Janet) Wise, Alabama; Mrs. Scott (June) Sadler, Bairdstown; 11 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Alfred of Fostoria; Oscar "Sylvester" of Victory; and a sister, Bessie Greeno, North Baltimore. He also was preceded in death by a grandchild. Mr. Ickes was a retired employee of Union Carbide, Fostoria. He also worked at Basol Laboratories, Findlay. He formerly had a country-western band. He served in the U.S. Navy. Mr. Ickes was a life member of the VFW, AMVETS Post 21 and DAV Buddy Chapter 43. He also was a member of Eagles Lodge 2118, the Packers Bowling Team at Dunn's Lanes in Fostoria and Bairdstown United Methodist Church. Mr. Ickes was a former umpire for the Young Miss Softball Association and a former member of the American Softball Association of Umpires.
