1783 tax shows: no one in his house; no wife, no children. Security by John Driskell...brother? The following entry in Nelms Store Accounts seems to confirm he was not yet married in 1783: DRISKELL, Adam (6 August, 1783 to 1784) Bought a fine mens hat for 2/5/0. Was entitled to a 5 shilling credit if paid by Christmas, failed to pay and gave note for the total in 1784. Will Bk JW, Pg. 36-37, Benjamin Shockley, Will: Jan 17, 1791 Probate: Aug 5, 1791 To son Noble; to son John; to Elizabeth Fusher, widow. To son Jonathan; to son Elijah; to dau Sarah Driskell and her son Peter Driskell. wit: Benj Johnson, William Morris, Richard Powders Worcester Co Court Land Records, Liber T, March 25, 1799, Pg 13 Adam Driskill and Sally Driskill to Elijah Shockley (of John) for 2 pounds current money a parcel of land called "Nottingham Town" containing 5 acres in Somerset County to which the said Sally is lawfully entitled to as heir to her father Benjamin Shockley late of Worcester County "when father was called John" Witness: John Cathell, Booz Walston Adam & Sarah were in Mason Co., KY by 1800. |
