They lived in Cumberland CO PA in 1822 . In 1823 moved to Stark CO for 15 years. 1838 went to Knox CO Jefferson Township, OH. In 1849 sold land in Knox CO and went to Seneca CO in 1850 1860 ca Sn Jk 93 1870 ca mary living with F.    I have written a few articles that have explained how several of the f amilies at this   site are related because of the   five Mathias daughter s.   The Zimmerman-Shultz realtion being the prime example. Another wou ld be the Byers-Shultz.

There were three Mathias sons also. Hard as I had tried, I could not f ind any trace of the Mathias sons beyond the late 1800's.

Did they move to MI along with that migration of northern OHans in the la te 1800's? Did they die as children? What happened to them?

In the old Risingsun Unique newspaper column "Girton Gossip", I did re ad about Jacob Mathias visiting various Shultz families. But that was n ot a very helpful clue.

Finally a couple of weeks ago I received an email from Nancy Roach of Ariz ona stating she had a Mathias connection with our family. I asked her wh ere the Mathias family had gone.

I would have never guessed: CYGNET OH.

That clue led me to Alice Mathias Few of Salem St Risingsun OH. That 's right, she lives right down the street from where grandma and grandpa S hultz lived.

Anyway, to make a very long story a little shorter--- I visted her la st weekend. She knew that she was Archie Shultz's second cousin. She h ad pictures of Archie's brother Lyod Shultz-- a very nice looking man.

Did not expect that hearing the stories how he lived in a log cabin and so ld junk for a living.

I am updating out Mathias familytree to include among others:

Nany Roach and Leonard Schramm [Perrysburg OH]who now belong to this site .

Oh, I almost forgot to tell you how I found Alice Few.

I called Cygnet where someone was nice enough to lead me to James Mathi as of Maumee who lives a few blocks from me.

That's right-- I could not find them anywhere and here they live within wa lking distance. When I talked to him, I thought he might be related, but he did not recogn ize any of the names I told to him.

I did mention Risingsun, and he told me his aunt Alice has lived there FOR EVER.

I called her and after she told me her grandfather was Daniel Mathias, I K NEW I had found the missing Mathias family.
