    Abraham Hammatt died at Ips;wich 9 Aug 1854, ae. 74. Native of Plymouth, apprenticed as a rope maker, and starting 1800, a resident of Bath, ME, in business there for more than thirty years. Moved to Ipswich where he gave up his bachelorhood, marrying Mrs. Lucy (Farley) Dodge, widow of William Dodge. He held the office of Feoffee of the Grammar School, and collected his manuscript on Early Inhabitants of Ipswich, which were donated to the Public Library upon his death (and later published as this book).
