Headstone Inscription
This solitary grave is located on Hwy 8 between Arkadephia and Alpine. It is by itself along the side of the road in an fenced in area. As wriiten on the Headstone: Here was buried ABNER HIGNIGHT One of the earilest white settlers, who came in 1810. He later brought the first seed corn to Clark County. He was a farmer, road overseer, deputy sheriff, and noted bear and buffalo hunter.
