    Ex-Sheriff A. W. Brown Dead.
    A. W. Brown died at his home in Rusk county, Texas, on the 26th ult., after being confined to his bed about four weeks with dropsy. He was born in Georgia on the 4th day of July, 1826, liking only a few days of being 73 years old at the time of his death. He came to Texas in 1858, lived in Shelby county many years, raising a large family. Mr. Brown served as sheriff and tax collector for Shelby county for several years; a few years after retiring from office he moved to Rusk county, near Lawsonville, where he has made his home ever since. He leaves a wife, several children, and a host of friends to mourn his loss.
