In the Name of God Amen the Twenty first Day of January Anno Domini 1750/1. I Isaac Putnam of Sutton in the County of Worcester in his majesty’s province of the Massachusetts Bay in new England Husbandman being weak in Body but of perfect mind and memory thanks be given to God therefor Calling to mind the mortality of my body and Knowing that it is appointed for all men once to Die do make and ordain this my Last Will and Testament That is to say principally and first of all I Give and comend my soul into the hands of god that Gave it to my Body I Recomend to the Earth to be buried in Decent and Christian Buriall at the Direction of my Exector nothing Doubting but at the generall Resurrection I Shall Receive the same again by the mighty Power of God and as Touching Such worldly Estate as it hath pleased God to Bless me withall I Give Devise and Dispose of the same in the following manner and form ~

my will is that all my Just Debts and funeral Charges be paid by my Executor hereafter named out of my personall Estate ~

Item

my Will is that my Well Beloved Wife Anna Putnam Have the Improvement off of the Easterly End of my Home with the Cellar to be at her Dispose dureing her remaining my widow

and Further my will is that my Son Phinehas whom I Name ordain & appoint the sole Exector of this my Last will and Testament Keep for her my well Beloved wife two good Cows of His own providing to be well Kept Winter and Summer During her Remaining my Widow and further that my said Exector find her my well beloved wife, a Sufficiency of fire wood (Dureing the Time aforesaid) Cut to a Convenient Length for the fire and brought into the House For her Room and further my will is that my said Executor find my well beloved wife a Bridle & a Horse to ride on so often as she shall have occasion for one to ride on Dureing the time aforesaid and further my Will is that my said Exector procure for her my said wife annually During said Time Eight pounds of Good sheeps Wool and Twenty pound of good Flax yearly for the Term of four years and after that Ten pounds a year Dureing the Time aforesaid and further my Will is that my said Executor provide my said wife during the Term aforesaid annually Eight Score of good Pork and four Barrils of Good Cyder and Seven Bushels of Good Indian Meal and Two bushels of Good rye meal and one Bushel of good Wheat meal and one Bushell & half of good malt Ten pounds of Tallow and Three Gallons of Rum and three pounds of Sugar and two pair of shoes and a Sufficiency of Good Tobacco ~

and further my will is that my wife have a priviledge in the Summer & fall Season of Green Source[?] of all Sorts which my Executor shall have growing upon his place so much as is necessary and Convenient for her and one person more if she hath occasion and further my will is that my Executor aforesd find my said wife as much Dry Source[?] for the Winter Season of all sorts that he shall Raise as she shall have occasion for in the Winter & Spring Season and also that he provide for her Six Bushell of Winter apples for the Winter Season and also that she have a priviledge of so many Summer apples in the Summer Season as she shall have Occasion for for her own Spending and Such other person as she shall have to Live with her and further my will is that my wife Enjoy all the aforesaid priviledges Dureing the Time aforesaid

Further my will is that my Executor aforesaid buy for her my said wife a good new Brass Kettle that will hold Three pails full to be at her disposal for Ever

Further my will is that my wife aforesaid have & Enjoy all [Page 551] my Indoor moveables together with my Books and Pannil and Pillion Dureing her natural Life and to be Disposed of at her Death as she shall Think proper and also all my wearing apparell ~

Item

My will is that my son Phinehas my before named Executor Have and Enjoy the Improvement of all my Land Lying in Sutton untill my youngest son viz Daniel Putnam Comes to of age of Twenty one years and that he have all my Quick stock with all my out of Door moveables as his own proper Estate to be Disposed of as he shall Think proper. Exceepting the Improvement of Two of my Cows or Two of his own which he is to provide and Keep for her as above Dureing her Widowhood ~

my Will is that my son Phinehas aforesaid Have all my out Door Husbandry Utensils Together with my Loom Saddle Stilly[?] and Leading Staff Cask (Excepting four Barrils which I Reserve for the use of my wife for the Time aforesaid to be annually Trimed filled & placed in the Cellar by Phinehas ~

Item

my Will is that ll my Land be Divided (Excepting five acres) between four of my sons viz Phinehas Edward Isaac and Daniel in Equal proportion Quantity and Quality Excepting my son Phinehas to have a Double share and over and above this five acres of Land the above mentioned to be Excepted which he shall have Laid out to him adjoyning to his other Land and moreover that my son Phinehas shall have all that part of Land Lying upon the south Side of the Road and so much upon the north side as to make up two full shares of the Land and to have the House and Barn and orchard and the five acres of Land adjoyning besides only the Land that a orchard stands upon to be Reckoned as part of the Land and Further my Will is that so much Stone Walls as there shall be a Necasidy for my son Phinehas to Build upon the land which shall fall to my other Three sons afore mentioned before my youngest Son shall Come to the age of Twenty one years shall be allowed to my son Phinehas by my other Three Sons at a Reasonable Price ~

my Will is that if my son Edward Remain a Cripple as he is at the present Time that my son Phinehas provides for him such things as are Necessary for his Comfortable subsistance until my youngest son Come of age and that then Two of my sons viz Isaac Daniel pay to my son Phinehas the sum of Six pounds a piece as Recompence in part for a Charge which he shall have been at for the maintenance of my son Edward

Item

my Will is that my son Phinehas Pay to my son Nathan Putnam when he comes to the age of Twenty one years the sum of Thirteen pounds Six Shillings and Eight pence and Eight pounds more at the age of Twenty Two years Lawful money which is his full share

my Will is that my son Asaph Putnam have paid him by my son Phinehas the sum of five shillings lawfull money when my youngest son Cometh of age which with what I have already given him is his full share ~

Item

my will is that my son Isaac Putnam pay to my Daughter Anna Trask the sum of five pounds Six shillings and Eight pense within one year after my son Daniel Come of [age] it being Lawfull money which is wiyh what she hath already had her full share

my Will is that my son Daniel Putnam pay to my Daughter Susannah Gleason the Sum of five Pounds Lawfull money within one year after he Come of age which with what she hath already had is her full share~

my will is that my son Phinehas allow his Brethern Edward Isaac & Daniel Liberty of Passing and Repassing thro his Land to the County Road as they shall have occasion ~

my Will is that if my Daughter Lydia should marry before my son Daniel Come of age that then my son Phinehas Pay to her upon marriage the sum of Eight pounds Lawfull money & upon my son Daniel Coming to the age [Page 552] of of Twenty Two years to pay to my son Phinehas the aforesaid Sum but if my Daughter Lydia should not Received it of Phinehas that Daniel pay her ~

my Will is that my son Isaac Pay to my Daughter Lidia the sum of five pounds Six Shillings and Eight pence Lawfull money within one year after my son Daniel Cometh of age ~

Further my will is Respecting Anna my Well beloved wife that if she should marry again before my son Daniel Come of age that then my son Phinehas pay her besides what I have already given her the sum of Six pounds Ten shillings Lawfull money to be at her Dispose to whom she please ~

and Further my will is that in Case of Extraordinary Providence as Sickness Lameness and the Like which may happen to my wife that then my son Phinehas do add to what I have already given her so much as shall be needfull to Render her Life Comfortable ~

and Further my will is that if Anna my wife Die my Widdow and Leave so much of her Estate as is Sufficient to give her a Decent Buriall that it be Paid out that way so much of it as is needfull and if what she shall Leave be not Sufficient that than my son Phinehas to do the Rest ~

my will is that if Either of my sons should Die before they Come of age to Twenty on years Leaving no Heirs of their Body that then what I have given them to be Equally Divided between my other sons Excepting Asaph ~

Item

my will is that if my Daughter Lydia should Die before she comes to the age of Twenty one years Leaving no Heirs of her Body that then what I have given her be Equally Divided between her Sisters Excepting what she may have Expended in Sick of and her funeral Charges. ~

my Will is that whereas I have an obligation bearing Date the 25th Day of May Anno Domini 1750 under the Hand & Seal of Jonathan Nichols of Sutton in the County of Worcester for Twenty five Pounds Lawfull money Conditioned for the giving of a Deed of a Certain Tract of Land Lying upon the Easterly Side of my Lands Containing about four acres and two thirds of an acre as my fully appear by the Instrument aforesaid now if Said Nichols agreeable to the obligation shall give a Warrentee Deed of said Land agreeable to the obligation which he hath Said himself under my will is that said Nichols give a Deed of said Land to my son Phinehas my Exector that then said Land so far as its Lyeth bounding upon my Land & untill it Cometh to my son Asaph Land be Divided among my said Sons viz Phinehas Edward Isaac & Danial in the same proportion as my other Lands ~

Further my will is that my sons Phinehas as my above names Executor pay all my Lawfull Debts and Receive all my Lawfull Dues and that he be not accountable therefor, Excepting the Land Last mentioned ~

And I do hereby nullify[?] Disallow revoke and Disinull[?] all and Every other Testament wills Legacies and Bequests and Executors by me in any way before named wills and Bequeathed Ratifying & Confirming this and no other to be my Last Will and Testament In Witness whereof I have hereunto Put my Hand & Seal the Dan and year above mentioned ~

[Page 553] Worcester Js[?] December 3rd 1751 Samuel Carril and Jephthah Putnam Two of the Witnesses to the aforegoing Instrument personnally appearing made oath that they Saw Isaac Putnam the publisher to the same Sign and Seal and heard him Publish pronounce and Declare the same Instrument to be and Contain his Last Will and Testament and that when he so Did he was of Sound Disposeing mind and memory according to these Deponants best Discerning and that they with Samuel Putnam the other Evidence put to their Names as Witnesses thereof at the same Time in said Testator presence Sworn before me John Chandler Jiutpas[?]
