Shirley J. Conkright, 78 FRANKFORT -- Shirley Jean Conkright, 78, of Frankfort, died at 6 a.m. Monday, Jan. 21, 2008, at Home Hospital in Lafayette following an extended illness. She was born Feb. 5, 1929, in Elkhart, to the late Herman and Mildred Cassman Feaster. She was a 1947 graduate of Jefferson High School in Lafayette, where she resided until moving to Frankfort in 1965. On Aug. 7, 1949, she married Charles William Conkright in Lafayette. He survives.

She was a bookkeeper, accountant and clothing buyer for Conkright's Sporting Goods and Conkright's Wholesale Trophies, working with her husband until they retired on Jan. 31, 1986.

Mrs. Conkright was a member of St. Matthew United Methodist Church, Zonta Club and the Business and Professional Women's Organization. Surviving with her husband are two sons, Gary William Conkright of Naperville, Ill., and Jeffrey L. Conkright of Dallas, Texas; two brothers, Jack Feaster of South Bend and Don Feaster of Lafayette; and a sister, Barbara Campbell of Tampa, Fla.

Also surviving are three grandchildren. A daughter, Linda Diane Conkright, preceded in death. Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 24, 2008, at Goodwin Funeral Home, Frankfort. Visitation will be Wednesday, Jan. 23, from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park. Expressions of sympathy can be made to St. Matthew United Methodist Church with envelopes available.
