According to the History of the Sentinel Heights Cemetary, 1816-1934 by John Chaires (Syracuse Public Library) Charles W. McClary was born ca. 1833-1835 in Lafayette and died November 5, 1907. He lived on the family homestead on McClary Road where he was a farmer. Charles' first wife was Bettie Ketchum who was born September 23, 1833 and died June 17, 1870. Both are buried in Clark lot no. 9 in the Sentinel Heights Cemetary, but their graves are unmarked.

Charles second wife was Frances Abbott, b. May 7, 1842 in Lafayette and died January 14, 1912. She was a school teacher.

Charles sometimes preached at the Webb Hollow Reformed Methodist Church when no minister was available.

Cause of death listed as pneumonia.
