Will of Adam Barber

The last will and testament of Adam Barber of Slippery Rock Township Butler County State of Pennsylvania. I Adam Barber [...] publish this my last will [...] First I give and devise to my two sons John Barber and Adam Barber all my tract of land that I now own in Coolspring township Mercer County to be equally divided between them, and also 100 dollars a horse a cow and 5 sheep. I also allow them a bed and cloths for said bed, and all my body clothing and clock and case and windmill and farming utensels. 2nd I give unto my son Thomas Barber ten acres of land off my half of the place he lives on to be run off in that way that will suit both places best - by giving him all the Mills and the water that suits to drive them. I also give and bequeath unto my two daughters Jane and Susannah one cow and five sheep to each of them. 4th I give unto my beloved wife Susannah Barber one cow and five sheep to her and her two daughters I give all the household furniture with all the beds and bedding excepting what is left to John and Adam Barber. I also will that my two sons John Barber & Adam Barber shall keep their mother in a decent and comfortable living during her natural life or so long as she remains a widow. 5th My will is that my tract of land in Neshanock and the tract I now live on be sold after my son Thomas gets his share and all the horses cows and sheep that may be left as beqeathed above is to be sold and the money is to be added to the bonds notes and book accounts and after my sons John and Adam get their one hundred dollars each my will is that the remainder be divided equally between my six children (that is to say) Robert Barber Sarah Hill Mary Ann Stratton Eliza Clover Jane Barber and Susanna Barber. I also give unto my son William Barber two dollars to be paid out of the remainder of money mentioned above. 6th I give and bequeath unto my four youngest children to be equally divided between them all my books. Also my will is that my two sons John and Adam Barber shall have their choise of the horses. Also the property I have left to my wife shall be in lieu of dower. And also if her two sons do not give her a comfortable maintenance she shall have the liberty to rent out their tract of land for her support. John and Adam Barbers money also to be put out at interest to pay schooling or taxes. And I make and ordain Thomas Barber and Hugh McKee executors of this my last will and testament. In withness whereof I have herunto set my hand and seal 26th day of November 1831
