A-2 THORNHILL GENEALOGY THOMAS THORNHILL The name Thomas Thornhill appears in a book under the heading-"A List of Soldiers of the Virginia Line who have received certificates for balance of their full pay * * * *". Payments to him were made Nov. 11, 1783, and June 28, 1784. WILLIAM THORNHILL (II Gen.); Elder son of Thomas Thornhill. We have found no vital statistics of him or of his wife. There are some family papers showing that he had three children; Thomas, Griffin and William, but there are no vital statistics concerning them. An old colored "Mammy", family servant, recalled from memory that they "all went South". There is a record in an old plat book at Charlottesville, Va., not numbered, of the survey of a tract of land for a William Thornhill, on Beaverpond Branches of David’s Creek, dated March 20, 1753, and another survey dated one day later, for Thomas Thornhill for lands adjoining on David’S Creek. Some of these lands are still owned and occupied by the descendants. ABSOLEM THORNHILL (II Gen.); Second son of Thomas Thornhill. No vital statistics of him or of his wife. His will dated Feb. 19, 1833, mentions three daughters and one son. He refers to his wife, but not by name. The will was probated in Buckingham Co., Va., on March 10, 1834, and refers to him as deceased. The copy of the will is a certified copy found in the papers of Col. Thomas S. Bocock; the county records having been destroyed by fire. His Children (III Gen.) 1)—Mildred (Millie) not married. 2)—Thomas Walker Thornhill; md.
