Charlie R. McCormick (December 13, 1909 - March 9, 2009)

Charlie R. McCormick, 99, of Spout Spring, died Monday, March 9, 2009, in the Appomattox Health and Rehabilitation Center. Born in Appomattox County, December 13, 1909, he was a son of the late Lewis S. and Queenie Almond McCormick. He was preceded in death by his first wife of 49 years, Rachel J. McCormick and his second wife of 15 years, Nellie McCormick; two daughters, Joyce M. Vaughan and Mackie McCormick; son, Charles T. McCormick; brothers, Lewis, Bennie, Bolden, and Calvin McCormick; and a sister, Myrlene. Charlie was a member of Liberty Baptist Church where his was a former deacon and Sunday school teacher. He retired in 1972 from the Lynchburg Foundry. He is survived by a grandson, Joe F. Vaughan and wife, Kathy of Spout Spring; great grandchildren, Brandon Vaughan and his wife, Julia and Erin Vaughan; a great-great granddaughter, Chloe Vaughan all of Appomattox; a son-in-law, Franklin Vaughan and wife, Virginia of Rustburg; brother, Curtis McCormick and wife, Evelyn of Lynchburg; sisters, Katherine Carter of Appomattox, Mina Williams of Lynchburg and Mackie Clapp and her husband, Earl; a sister-in-law, Edith McCormick of Spout Spring and a number of nieces and nephews. A graveside funeral service will be held 2:00 pm, Thursday, March 12, 2009 in Old Concord Presbyterian Church by the Rev. George Kreidel. The family will receive friends at Robinson Funeral Home Thursday from 12:00 – 1:00 pm.
