OBITUARY OF MRS. HOOVER

    Martha Ellen (Carrick) Hoover was born May 8, 1854, in Davidson County, North Carolina, and departed this life August 4, 1926, at Sulphur, Okla., age 72 years, 2 months, and 26 days.
    She was married to Silas A. Hoover, February 28, 1878, in Douglas County, Mo., Rev. Ruby Cogg performing the marriage ceremony.  To this union, 11 children were born, seven boys and four girls, eight of whom survive her, four boys and four girls.  They are Mrs. H. L. Gaskill, Kaw City, Okla.,  D. A. Hoover, Sterling City, Texas,  Mrs. H. L. Hunter, Guthrie, Okla.,  Mrs. Walter Whitney, Guthrie, Okla.,  William Silas Hoover, Dayton, Ohio,  Mrs. C. W. Purtle, Sulphur, Okla., Carlie Hoover, Sterling City, Texas,  Linn J. Hoover of Oklahoma City, Okla.,  all of whom were present to attend the funeral except two sons.  Besides her children, she leaves to mourn for her two brothers,  J. W. Carrick,  J. M. Carrick,  three sisters,  Mrs. M. D. Richman,  Mrs.  C. S. Herod,  Mrs. J. M. Philpott,  19 grandchildren,  one great-grandchild,  and a host of other relatives and friends.
    The Hoover family moved from Missouri to Oklahoma November, 1900,  since which time they have resided there.
    Mr. Hoover died July 17, 1909.
    Mrs. Hoover was converted at about the age of 14 and united with the Baptist church, of which she remained a faithful member until death claimed her, at which time she was a member of the First Baptist church of Sulphur, Oklahoma.
    After a brief service at the home in Sulphur, Oklahoma, the body was brought to Seymour for final funeral services which were held in the Baptist church by the pastor,  Rev. H.T. Crooker, in the presence of a large group of sympathetic friends,  after which the body was laid to rest in the Masonic cemetery.  ----
