John, There are three CARRICK families in the Seymour book, but no HOOVERS. James Harrison Carrick, born 1825 nd Rutha Sheen [Skeen] Carrick, b 1829, came by covered wagon from NC about 1854. They settled in what is now Webster County. They were of Irish descent. They had two small children, Josephus and Elizabeth. They homesteaded land about six miles southeast of where Seymour is now. More children were Saray J, m. Tavner Hailey; Hulde [Hulda] C, m. John Hunt; Ruthe [Rutha] m. I A (Alonzo) Andrews; James S, m. Mason Upchurch; Mary, m. JP Norman of Ava; John T, never married; Josephus, m. Martha Sivils; and Elizabeth, m. Daniel Herman.

A descendant of Elizabeth, Judy K Herman, probably is still in Seymour. I have the 1996 phone book and she is listed at 417 935-4222.

The Carricks in the three family history submissions all seem to be descended from James and Rutha. No William mentioned. I can send more.
