Mignonne Reavis Mather, age 91, of Duluth, and a former resident of Avondale Estates from 1954 until 1998, died Saturday, June 9, 2007. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, June 11th at Floral Hills Memory Gardens, 3000 Lawrenceville Hwy, Tucker, with ministers, Joe Glenn and Al Bastain officiating. A native of Summerville, GA, Mrs. Mather was an honor graduate of both Summerville High School and Bessie Tift College. She retired from the U. S. Department of Interior in 1978 following a 20 plus year career and then moved on to a second career as executive secretary to the General Manager of Davison's Department Store in Atlanta. Mrs. Mather was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, who loved the Lord. She was a charter member of the Decatur (now Northlake) Church of Christ and was preceded in death by her dear husband, Elton B. Mather in 1973, son Walter Leland Mather in 1945, and six beloved bothers and sisters. Survivors include: sons and daughters-in-law, E. Bruce and Susan Mather, Beacon, NY and Dr. William H. and Karen Mather, Duluth; grandchildren, Jason and Libby Mather of Westlake, OH, Mary Bliss Mather of Seattle, WA, William H. Mather, Jr. and Luke D. Mather of Duluth; great grandchildren, Raquel, Clay and Charlotte Mather, Westlake, OH; sister and brother-in-law, Hazel and J.D. Mankin, Arvada, CO; sisters-in-law, Marion Aye Reavis, Lawrenceville and Louise Reavis, Janesville, WI; and several nieces and nephews. Contributions in her name may be made to the American Heart Association or to your favorite charity. A reception will follow the service at the home of Dr. and Mrs. William H. Mather in Duluth, Georgia. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Sunday, June 10th at A. S. Turner & Sons in Decatur.
