Notes:

Sylvester was a private in the 2nd Regiment of Washington Territory, Mounted Volunteers for 6 months (enlisted in Wascow County, Oregon). Discharged at Salem, Oregon, October, 1856.


He was also in the Missouri Militia, 40th Regiment, Company B.


Between the time of his discharge in 1856 , he lived in Dalles, Oregon and WallaWalla, Washington and then returned  to Petits County, lving near Georgetwon until 1866.  Next, he resided at Halfway, Polk County from January 1866 to Feb. 1899, and  Sunse, Polk County, ever since.t


Appears in the 1850 Pettis Cnty, Mo Census, age 13.


Appears in 1860 Missouri Census, living next to mother's farm in Heath Creek Twp.


Veteran of western Indian Wars and served in the Civil War for the South.


In Sylvester's Missouri Application for Civil War Pension dated 1912, his description on enlistment in 1862 is: age 20, height 5'8", fair complexion, brown eyes, dark brown hair, farmer.


Appears in the 1900 Mo. Polk County Censu, ED 122 sheet 12A, line 23, age 65, married 41 years, both parents born in Kentucky, farmer.


Appears in the 1920 Missouri Census, Polk County Census, age 85.


They had been married 62 years at the time of his death in 1921. He was alking in this yard and tripped over a root which, according to his obit, caused a burst blood vessel (stroke) which, in turn, caused his death.

She is related to Kit Carson and remembers sitting on his lap as a child when he visited them in Missouri (Family Lore).


In the 1900 MO Polk County Census, ED122, sheet 12A, line 23, age 60, had 10 children, both parents born Missouri. Married 41 years.
