Hello. My name is Roby Wilson. I am helping my boyfriend, Robert Rutledge, do family research on his Winfree/Winfrey family line. His GGGrandfather was William Henry Winfree b. 7/28/1824 in Cumberland Co., Va. William first married a Sarah A. Smith in 1843, then in 1849 he married again to an Ann Cathryn Martin. They were from the Oak Forest area of Cumberland Co., Va. Williams parents were a John Winfree b. abt. 1802 & Martha Parker Oakley b. abt. 1810, from Cumberland Co. VA. Their children were as follows: Edward B., John W., Shedrick O., Joseph W., Peter F., Robert E., Susan Ada (Suada), Genevia. My boyfriend is descended from Susan Ada who married a George Rutledge. I just recently found them on the 1880 census in Malden, Kanawha, WV. We had no idea they moved to WV. It appears they went to work the coal mines. I do know that William H. Winfree served in the Confederate Army. I was directed to Gencircles web site from a query I did on another site and found your information. Would you have anymore info. on this family line? Would you know where they were buried in WV.? Thank you for any help you can provide.

Cordially,

Roby Wilson
