“Upon the expressed consideration whereas, the said James T. Scott, on the 1st day of December AD 1857 -- Borrowed from the said James W. Overton two hundred and sixty six dollars -- Eleven Months after the date -- Now if the said James T. Scott his executors or administrators shall pay the sum of money specified in said Mortgaged deed - and all the interest May be due thereon according to he terms of this deed then this conveyance shall be void -- otherwise it shall remain in full force and virtue in law.”
