Notes for Abner's father.

Notes as background for establishing Zephaniah Dunn as father of Abner Dunn

Dunns in 1790 Census for Washington County, Pennsylvania In addition to Benajah and Sarah (p. 36/170)
the only other Dunns in the undefined county are
Isaac Dunn, 1 male over 16, 1 female, p. 18/162
Samuel Dunn, 1 male over 16, 1 female, p. 18/162

Isaac Dunn was from Virginia, probably in the vicinity of Winchester, where he enlisted in the VA line during the war; in 1818 he applied for a military pension from Washington County, PA, where he resided. One of the deponents in his application was Samuel Dunn. The pension was granted, and continued to be paid to Isaac through 1832, all in Washington County, PA. (i.e., he could not have fathered a child in Kentucky in the early 1790s.)

Samuel Dunn, associated with Isaac, also continued to live in Pennsylvania, appearing the the 1810 Census in Green County, aged 45 or older. Old enough to be Abner's father, but remained in Pennsylvania.
