[edit] Jacob S. Schannauer ObituaryJacob S. "Jakie" Schannauer, 86, formerly of Schoeneck, entered into rest on Tuesday, June 3, 2008 at Maple Farm Nursing Center, Akron. He and his wife, Edna M. (Shirk) Schannauer, celebrated 60 years of marriage on April 3. Born in Mt. Airy, he was a son of the late Harvey C. and Elsie H. (Gockley) Schannauer. Jakie was employed by Miller Hess Shoe Factory, Akron, was a member of Mellinger's Lutheran Church, Schoeneck, a life member of the Schoeneck Fire Co., the caretaker at Mellinger's Cemetery for many years, and enjoyed gardening and puzzles. Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons, Paul S. (Helen K. Fasnacht) Schannauer, and Ray H. (Deborah A. Specht) Schannauer, both of Denver; a granddaughter, Melissa A. Schannauer, Crestview, FL; and a sister, Edith S. (Charles R.) Leed, York. He was predeceased by 2 grandchildren, Scott and Sallie Schannauer. The Funeral will be on Monday at 10:00 AM in Mellinger's Lutheran Church, 80 Gockley Rd., Stevens (Schoeneck). Interment in the adjoining cemetery. There will be a viewing on Sunday from 6-8 PM in the Roseboro Funeral Home, 533 Walnut St., Denver, and on Monday at the church from 9-10 AM.
