Arthur H.A. SCHOENNAUER

Arthur Henry August Schoennauer, 81, formerly of Seattle, died Saturday, April 5, 2003 at Medford, Oregon. The funeral was Friday, April 11, at Rose City Cemetery Chapel in Portland, Oregon. Memorial contributions may be made to Seattle Lutheran High School, 4141 41st Ave. S.W., Seattle, WA. 98116. Mr. Schoennauer was born Oct. 26, 1921, in Seattle, to Arthur C.J. and Ida A. Schoennauer, and grew up in Seattle. He attended Trinity Lutheran School in Seattle, Concordia Teachers Colleges in Portland, Oregon and Seward, Nebraska, before earning his master's degree in counseling from the University of Washington. Mr. Schoennauer began his teaching career in San Leandro, California. He later taught at Trinity Lutheran School in Seattle, served as principal of Hope Lutheran School in Seattle, taught and did career counseling at Seattle Lutheran High School. He moved to Oregon in 1998. He was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Medford. Mr. Schoennauer enjoyed teaching, corresponding with his former students, music, and playing piano and organ at church. Survivors include a brother, Alfred, Medford; a sister, Irmgard Cole, Tacoma, Washington; nephews, Robert Cole, Arthur Cole, and Mark Schoennauer; nieces, Cheryl Schoennauer, Sandra Griffith, and Debra Caswell.
