[edit] TextBody of Soldier Boy Body of Paul Schoennauer Left California Monday For Tipton Mrs. Fannie Schoennauer, west of Tipton, received word Tuesday morning that the body of her son, Paul Schoennauer who died April 29th of Peritionitis in the Hawaiian Islands, would reach Tipton Friday, June 22nd. The young man was in the U.S. Army. The message from Ft. Mason, California stated that the body had reached there and was being sent by American Express leaving Ft. Mason Monday. Young Schoennauer was a private in Battery B. 8th Field Artillery, he having enlisted at Indianapolis Jan 29th 1923. Having had experience in an automobile school and being proficient, he was promoted soon after his enlistment and at the time he was taken ill was a mechanic and chauffeur in the Artillery division. Until the body reaches Tipton, no definite plans will be made for the funeral. It is known that there will be a guard of honor sent here from Indianapolis and the American Legion will also assist at the services. The body will be accorded full military honors. Rev. Carson former pastor of the Atlanta M.E. church will have charge of the funeral services. Paul was nineteen years of age, having been born in Chicago, Ill., July 16th, 1903 and had been a resident of Tipton county since he was three years old until the time of his enlistment.
