Mary Frances Starkey (nee Rainwater), seated in the middle with her children (by her husband, Jabe). From left to right: Mary Lou (9/12/1897 to 4/21/1928), Frances "Fanny" Lee (b. 1901), Mary Frances (1/9/1867 to 4/12/1925), Robert Willis (b. 1905), and Mattie (b. 1899). This was probably taken around 1905-1906 in northern Alabama, likely near Guntersville. The only dates verified are Mary Lou's & her mother's birthday & deathday--all the others are written on the back of the photo (Mary Lou's is listed as "1897," & her mother's as "1869," but that's at odds with other sources). It's also possible that Mattie and Mary Lou are switched, given how much taller the girl on the right is compared to her supposed older sister on the left.
