David Hoover Family

David Hoover and his wife Amy Varner were around the Healing Springs area in the southern division of Davidson County in 1850, but I have had little luck getting solid information about him except for the census data. He appears in 1840 and 1850, but died before 1860. I attempted to get his will some years ago, but had no luck. Doesn't mean it isn't there. Any ideas?

There are only two children I can identify by name, from the 1850 census: Jesse and Ephraim. Jesse married Amanda Cross, daughter of David Cross and Susannah Goss, between 1850 and 1854, and they moved to south-central Missouri with Goss and Cross relatives.

I have very recently been able to track down Ephraim. Unfortunately, he ended up in California, and had apparently never married or had children.

According to the 1840 census, there may have been 5 older children of my David, but I'm not sure who they might be. There is a lot of online info about *this David*, but much of his *upline connection to the Randolph County Hoovers* seems just wrong. I certainly have not seen any proof, and many seem to conflate a different Randolph Co David, who married a Mary/Polly, with the Davidson Co David. The Randolph Co David had a son named Jesse, roughly of the same age as mine, but *that* Jesse has a long known life and *not* in Missouri!

It is likely that my David is a son of Jacob Hoover, in Davidson Co 1830, but I have not been able to track a will for this Jacob either.

I would appreciate any information, advice or help on my southern division Davidson Co Hoovers !!!
