Family talk:Phillip Reed and Abigail Rice (1)

Watchers

George McCracken in "Dr. Philip Reade and His Earlier Descendants," The New England Historical and Genealogical Register, Vol. 112 (1958), 119-132 does not list Samuel as a child. I'm not sure that the parents of Samuel, who married Mary Davis, is known. --Ronni 14:43, 11 September 2008 (EDT)

I believe the error was actually introduced by your change of Abigail Unknown into Abigail Rice. This change has turned this page into a conglomeration of two Philip Reeds. Before that change, it was an incomplete, but right as far as it went, representation of Philip Reed #2 of Weymouth.
  • Dr. Philip Reade of Concord (#23 in the Reade Record list of early Reeds) married Abigail Rice about 1669, he died 1696 (maybe), she died 1709, had a son Philip who married Thanks Dill and son Jacob. He is indeed the subject of the above cited article.
  • Philip Read of Weymouth (#10 in the Reade Record list, d. 1675) and wife Mary had a son Philip Reed who m. (1) Hannah ---, m. (2) Abigail --- d. 1715. It was the son Philip that fathered Samuel and Stephen. The original page showed wife Abigail Unknown, son Samuel, parents Philip Read and Mary Unknown, and was clearly intended to be this Philip Reed, not the one who married Abigail Rice.
I will be straightening this out over the next couple of days, including restoring Family:Phillip Reed and Abigail Unknown (1) to deal with the Weymouth family, in addition to this page dealing with the Concord family. --Jrich 11:06, 23 September 2010 (EDT)
