Family talk:John Hubbard and Jane Fallenshy (1)

Death of father is more than 9 months before birth of daughter? [14 October 2008]

Needs sources!!! Father shown as dying 1703, but daughter Jemima born 1710/1???

Source:The Libby family in America, 1602-1881, p. 51, says Keziah Hubbard [who m. 1 Jan 1734 John Libby] was daughter of "John and Sarah (Collensby) Hubbard, of Kingston, NH". I assume this is the same family. It calls John a native of Salisbury, MA.

Vital Records of Salisbury, MA, p. 395 shows marriage:

HUBBARD, John, and Jane [Collensby. т. с. ; bet. 1689 and 1691.].

On pp. 139-140, it lists the children of this couple, before they left Salisbury:

Richard [John. ст. R.], s. John and Jane, Jan. 17, 1690.
Jerimie, s. John and Jane, Aug. 27, 1692.
Mary, d. John and Jane, Nov. 29, 1694.
Richard, s. John and Jane, Dec. 27, 1696. N. ст. вк.
Martha, d. John and Jane, Oct. 8, 1698. N. ст. вк.
Jane, d. John and Jane, June 10, 1700. N. ст. вк.
Annah, d. John and Jane, July 22, 1702. N. ст. вк.
Kesiah, d. John and Jane, July 10, 1704. N. ст. вк.

History of Maine by Louis Clinton Hatch, p. 59:

Lieutenant John Hubbard, the eldest son of Cornet Richard and Martha (Allen) Hubbard, was born in Salisbury, Massachusetts, April 2, 1669. He was admitted to the church August I, 1703, and a year later removed to Kingston, New Hampshire. He was lieutenant of militia, and was active in the affairs of the community. He married Jane Follensby and had a family of eleven children. His death occurred at Kingston. New Hampshire, in 1723.

Also, there is a detailed explanation by Charles T. Libby in New England Historical and Genealogical Register, p. 66:89, why he finally came to believe the last name is Follensby, not Collensby as oft reported.
