Family talk:Ezekiel Wood and Maria Tellier (1)

Maria Tellier or Mary Price [2 June 2013]

Ezekiel Wood marries a Mary Price on March 5, 1881 (https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/XJCW-N62), but I think that Mary Price is actually Mary/Maria Tellier.

Here are my arguments why:

1. On the death index, Benjamin's mother's maiden name is listed as Tellier (https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/VPDJ-7ML) 2. In the 1880 census, Ezekiel and his first wife, Mary Collins Wood, are listed as having a servant girl named Mary Tellier (https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/MD2K-S1W) 3. By the 1885 Iowa census, Mary Collins has died, and Ezekiel is married to "Mary S Wood" (https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/HZYC-SW2), whos is the age Mary Tellier would be 4. On the 1880 census, Benjamin gives his mother's birthplace as Wisconsin, where Mary Tellier was born (https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/M9KY-DYK) 5. Ezekiel Wood and "Mary Price" get married in Avery (https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/XJCW-N62), instead of Rutland. Avery is where Mary Tellier's parents were living at the time 9https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/MD2K-7RM)

I do not know why she would be called Mary Price on the marriage certificate, since she was Mary Tellier only a year earlier. That doesn't seem like enough time to marry and divorce/be widowed, and remarry, but stranger things have happened.--Jdfoote1 14:51, 2 June 2013 (EDT)
