- ↑ There appears to be a possible conflict with the marriage dates of William's two wives. 1900 census data indicates that William and Belle were married 9 years at the time the census was recorded. It is possible the census taker was less than diligent about recording the correct information, which is unfortunately not unusual. The census also lists that Belle is the mother of 4 with 3 living children. While there are three children listed on this record, it is not clear if they are all actually her children.
