Others have suggested that William first married Mary Robbins and that they had one child together before William married Anne Hawkins. I can find no evidence for this first marriage.

William Sutton, died intestate in Knowlton Township, Sussex County New Jersey about September 15 1794 (S1, S2).

William Sutton and his daughter Elizabeth are named in the 1797 will of his father, Jonas Sutton (S5).

Anne Hawkins-Sutton, married (S4) Andrew Freeman on Nov 13 1799 in Byram Township, Sussex County, New Jersey.

The division of the land among the heirs of the estate of William Sutton in KNowlton Towsnhip Sussex County was registered in 1816. This document (S7) names most of his children.

Anne Hawkins-Sutton-Freeman wrote her will (S6)on April 14 1818 wherein she names most of her children. Anne died in Independence Township, Sussex County, New Jersey sometime before June 9 1818 when her will was filed in the county courthouse.
