"We have no information where he came from to Concord, nor have we any information regarding the ancestry of his wife Mary. They appeared in Concord as early as 1657, and perhaps earlier. It has been supposed that he came with wife Mary from Chelmsford to Concord. His oldest son was born in 1654, but we fail to find a record of his birth on the Concord records [sic, it is on p. 54, but appears in a group of records added by Thomas Brown, Town Clerk, about 1703] and he may have been born previous to coming to Concord."
