  1. A deed executed by the widow of Person:Benjamin Hale (1) mentions "Lydia Priest of Leominster, widow", grouped with the children of Benjamin's brother Joseph. This appears to be the widow of Daniel Priest of Leominster who d. 1771, a conclusion supported by the excellent match of her age at death. He m. in 1762 a Lydia Graves of Bolton as his second wife. Her first marriage has not yet been identified. The Bolton VRs only contain the marriage to Daniel Priest, and have no other record of any person surnamed Graves, either birth, marriage or death. The only Lydia Graves having recorded children have been ruled out (Peter Graves of Stow had wife Lydia but his probate is dated 1773 so she does not appear to be available, nor would Lydia Heald by birthdate nor Lydia Priest by age at death be old enough to have a child in 1733; Joseph Graves of Southborough had 2nd wife Lydia, but she appears to be Lydia Newton, and they had children after 1762 (Essex Genealogist, p. 20:212), so she was not available either). Various Mr. Graves who died just prior to 1762 have pretty much been ruled out. There is no death date for the first wife Margaret of Daniel Graves [#81 in Graves Genealogy] of Brimfield/Palmer, so no reason to think he might have married a second time, but his death in 1760 makes him a candidate as Margaret isn't apparent after the birth of son Phineas in 1740. Daniel Graves [#64] of Greenfield d. 1756, but appears to have been survived by his wife Thankful who d. 1760. Likewise Eleazer Graves [#92] of Athol, d. 1756, but survived by his wife who d. 1766. The Graves Genealogy mentions a Benjamin Graves [#86] of Brimfield whose wife's name is unknown but he had children in 1733, too early unless Lydia was a second wife.
