Enslaved Parents of Caesar, Catherine and John Bowens: Family History

The names of the parents of Caesar, Catherine and John Bowens await discovery. Caesar, Catherine and John were born into slavery. After Emancipation Caesar, Catherine and John officially took the surname Bowens.

After the War, Caesar stayed on at Drayton Hall, where he was the caretaker for the property. He lived in the north flanker (one of the buildings surrounding the main house.

Our work in the Antebellum records for the Drayton family continues. We hope to learn the names of Caesar, Catherin and John Bowens' mother and father.
