↑ Note: Most sources give the maiden name of Rachel as Russell. This is not explained, no marriage record is apparent, and it may be assumption based on naming a child Russell? The baptism of son James in Groton gives the mother's maiden name as Kemp. Since this is not where they lived normally, it is unknown how authoritative this is. Perhaps that name was added later, erroneously assuming she must be from Groton? On the other hand, perhaps the church clerk inquired, she not be well-known to him?
