On 8 April 1901, they were living in the townland of Ballynahowen, Co. Limerick, at the time of the 1901 Census.

In the Ordinance Survey, he is living in County Limerick, Rural District of Newcastle, Barony of Glenquin, Parish of Monagay of Newcastle, Electoral Division of Monagay. His townland is Ballynahown (O.S. Survey map 36). Under “Immediate Lessors” is listed “In fee”. He is described as having house, office and land, 70 acres, 3 r., 27 f. His land was valued at ₤41.15.0, his buildings at 1.5.0, for a total of ₤43. Under “observations” is the date 1906. At the time of the 1901 census, he is a farmer. In the later survey, “Thomas” is crossed out and replaced by “Michael.” The value of the land has remained the same, but the value of the buildings rose to ₤4.10.0 in 1924, and 6.10.0 in 1929. This may be the same land as that owned by John Sheehan, in an 1881? Survey, since the acreage and value are identical. According to the 1901 Census, his house had five or six rooms, walls of perishable material, a roof of perishable material, three windows on the front of the house. There were eleven “out-offices and farm-steadings.”
