Children

The History of Marlborough provides a list of three children (1) Mary who married Isaac Amsden; (2) Adam who married Mary Church; and (3) Thomas who married Mary Gove.S3 If the will of Thomas Martin is accurately represented, it names only two children: Thomas and Dorothy, who married Joseph Howe.S2 Neither Adam, who was alive, was married and had children, nor Mary are named in the will.

The Mary Gove (underage) named in the will is most likely the Mary Gove who married the son, Thomas Martin. It is unclear why she was named in the will, except that the will states "if she doth live and continues with my wife or my __."S2

Hudson may have erred in the identification of these last named children or they may have already been provided for and were thus not mentioned. More research is needed into Thomas' probate to determine if additional heirs existed.

Based on Thomas' will as viewed at the website referenced, his children were Thomas and Dorothy. Mary and Adam may be additional children. It is not known whether Jane in the 1675 petition to reside in Marlborough is the mother of these children.
