Drury The Methodist School Hall, Taree, was the scene of a happy function on February 13, when, 60 close relatives of Mr. and Mrs. T. A. Drury, of Central Lansdowne gathered to con- gratulate them, and wish them well, on attaining the fiftieth anniversary of their wedding. Mrs. Drury is one of a family of twelve, and for the first time in many years, eleven brothers and sisters met. Two brothers and one sister came from Coff's Harbour. Mr. Lou Bignell, of Bundaberg. Queensland. was the only member of the family unable to be present. All but two of Mr. Drury's brothers were present. Mrs, Ron Drury, daughter-in-law; and son Paul, and Mr. Don Drury, grandson were, unable to be present. Major David Bignell, (Mrs. Drury's youngest brother) proved an excel-lent chairman. Many amusing incidents of by gone days were recalled, which brought forth much mirth. After the loyal toast had been honoured, the chairman proposed the toast hit the guests, which was sup-ported by Mr. A. G. Drury, eldest son Mr, Les Duke, son-in-law- Mr. Alf. Drury, brother of the "groom " and Mr. Colin Drury, eldest grandson. Mr. Ron Drury, youngest son, read a number of congratulatory tele-grams. Mr. Ray Drury on behalf of the family presented his parents with a silver tea service. Mr. R. A. Bignell proposed the toast of the 'best man" and "brides-maid" (Mr. and Mrs. Jonas Drury). This was supported by Mr. C. C. Drury. Later on, Mr. Bignell, made a presentation to Mr. and Mrs. Jonas Drury who reached the halt century of wedded life some eighteen months ago. This was on behalf of the brothers and sisters. Mr. Alf Bignell proposed a toast to the absent members, and Mr. H. M. Drury proposed the toast of the caterers — the- Taree Methodist L.C.A. Society. Mr. A. McAlpin proposed the toast of the chairman. During the proceedings, Miss Joy Drury eldest granddaughter rendered the solo "When I grow too old to Dream." and Mr. C. C. Drury, son read a very fitting poem. Mrs. H. M. Drury offered a beautiful prayer, of thanksgiving. The much admired two-tier cake was made by Mrs. Les Duke; daughter of the bride find bridegroom. The singing of the Doxdiogy, followed by the Benediction brought to a close a very enjoyable function.
